FG explores culture to strengthen economic ties with Denmark, others

Federal Government has planned to strengthen economic and social ties with the Scandinavian countries which are group of countries in Northern Europe that includes Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland and Sweden through cultural heritage carnival slated for September 5th to 8th, 2018 in Denmark.

The event which is first of its kind according to one of the organizers, Mr Bolude Ibrahim has been approved by the federal government in collaboration with the federal ministry of Information and Culture and in partnership with African Chamber for Commerce Scandinavia.

Speaking about the event, Ibrahim said Nigerian cultural heritage carnival is a conceptualized cultural carnival aimed at showcasing Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage to the Western world adding that it will bring together all past cultural arts and heritage till date for the countries to experience the power of arts, culture and heritage tourism to attain economic empowerment, global economic growth and fruitful bilateral and socio-cultural relations as well as youth development.

“We have designed an international convention on economic in this event. The Nigeria cultural heritage carnival will take advantage of a blooming market opportunity in Scandinavia and America, additionally intend to help in the slow process integration and culture diversity in Copenhagen by offering a unique platform for African decedents to share the positive aspect of their culture”, he said.
According to him, the carnival is organized and managed under three companies which are Afrowood Media, Senior Boyz Production and Mogaji Atanda International Promotion.
The brand ambassador, Nollywood Yoruba actor, Saheed Balogun also called on federal and state governments as well as other well spirited Nigerians to support the carnival stressing that it has a lot of benefits to Nigerians especially in terms of image laundering abroad.

He also called on the federal government to make more strigent laws that will guide the Nollywood industry in the right path.

“There are laws but we need hard laws, the existing laws guiding Nollywood are too weak, we need a stronger structure, for instance if someone wants to come and shoots movies from abroad there should be some laws guiding such person, what kind of movie does the person want to shoot, and this is because the people who know about the real business are not put in the committee. In the entertainment industry there should be strict laws”, he said.

Olu of Agege, Oba Oyedeji Isiba also urged the federal government to support the programme saying it is a laudable one but government’s assistance is needed because the event is about promoting our cultural heritage.

He said with this event there is possibility that many of the Scandinavian countries will invest in Nigeria and do things with Nigerian people stressing that the Scadinavia which has a booming market opportunity that can be useful to Nigeria would also be using such advantage to have much in common with Nigerians.

The main event according to the organizers will feature Nigerian dance, music, clothes, drama and films.
