Federal High Court delivers judgment on Kebbi pre-guber election suit Friday

A Federal High Court Abuja, will deliver judgment on Friday, on a Kebbi State pre-election matter brought before it by a plaintiff, Mr. Anthony Itanyi, who is claiming that Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of the All Progressive Congress (APC) committed perjury by lying under oath in the form he submitted to Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) prior to 2015 governorship election in the state.

Itanyi, in suit number FHC/ABJ/CS312/2015 is praying the presiding judge, Justice Mohammed Ahmed to to invalidate the election that brought Governor Bagudu to power and confirm Major General Bello Yaki (Rtd), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in the election as the winner and subsequently order INEC, a co-defendant to issue him certificate of return.

The plaintiff is also claiming that Governor Bagudu of the APC is wanted in the United States of America, over his involvement in the alleged looting of millions of Dollars during the reign of late Head of State, General Sani Abacha.

It would be recalled that the Governor earlier filed a preliminary objection challenging the jurisdiction of Federal High Court to entertain the matter.

The matter was appealed to Supreme Court and the apex court subsequently ruled that the Federal High Court has jurisdiction to hear the case, besides ordered for an accelerated hearing on the matter.
