FCTA shares 2bn to Area Councils, others

The Federal Capital Territory Administration has disbursed the sum of N2bn to the six area councils in the FCT and other stakeholders as its share of statutory allocation for the month of April.
The FCT permanent secretary, Dr. Babatope Ajakaiye, said this while presiding over the Joint Area Councils Allocation Committee (JAAC) meeting on Thursday in Abuja.
The figure shows that the April allocation is higher than last month’s allocation by N80m.
The breakdown of the allocation shows that Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) got the highest share of N169million while Gwagwalada received N165m and Kwali got N143m.
Similarly, Kuje Area Council received N142m; Abaji N141m and Bwari got N136m.
Statutory deductions from the release includes: primary school teachers’ salaries which gulped N998m and 15 percent pension funds equivalent to N95m.
Others are one percent training funds got N19m; and 10 percent employer pension contribution received N73m.
Chairman of Kwali Area Council who is also the chairman of ALGON, Hon. Shazin Joseph, described the allocation as balanced and equitable.
He also commended the FCT administration for not deducting from the allocations of the Area Councils.
