FCTA bemoans reports of poor infrastructure in Utako village

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has said that reports that there are no basic infrastructure in the Utako Village area of the FCT are misleading as the village is actually benefitting from essential services provided in Utako District.

The FCT Director of Engineering Services, Engr. Shehu Ahmad Hadi, who was responding to reports in some sections of the media that the Utako Village in the FCT lacks access to portable water, electricity and primary healthcare centre, said that in contrast to these reports, the Utako Village is actually serviced with standby portable water on a temporary basis as well as permanent access roads.

He said the Utako Village also has access to a General Hospital for Utako District being constructed near the village which they can benefit, pending their eventual relocation.

The Director however noted that the village has no planned routes for other services like electricity supply as it is envisaged that they will eventually be relocated to Galuwyi/Shere Resettlement Site in Bwari Area Council.

He said the area the village is occupying was designed to be plots of land, adding that these plots have been fully allocated, but are yet to be serviced with infrastructure due to the activities in the area.
