FCT BUDGETS N104M TO HOST SMEs’ CLINIC

The Federal Capital Territory(FCT) administration has announced the amount
of N104 million to host 2017 edition of the small scale business
entrepreneurship clinic.

The SMEs clinic which is the brainchild of the office of the
Vice-President of the Federation, is meant to help create an enabling
ground for the emerging business entrepreneurs.

Meanwhile, the Managing Director of the Abuja Enterprise Agency, AEA,
Alhaji Sabi mohammed Turkur, in a media chat with Daily Times,said that the
FCT Administration has approved thesaid sum to execute 2017 edition
of small scale business enterprise clinic as ordered by the
presidency.

He said that the money has been carefully mapped out to
ensure that the purpose of developing small scale business industry,
in the FCT is assured and participants pay nothing
for participating.

The programme, which has gone around 10 states of the federation, is
targeted at exploring every available business opportunities within
the FCT for the improvement of the economy of the Nigeria’s capital
City.

Indigenes of the FCT, according to the Managing Director, parts of the
six area councils of the FCT, have been identified with several
products produced at a low scale within the FCT markets but with the
intention for empowerment to produce same in a larger scale and
export to the international market.

Such items include shear butter, which has huge financial value at the
international market.

Meanwhile, The Technical Assistant to the Vice-President of Nigeria, on Small
and medium Scale business, Mr. Tola Johnson, has said that small scale
industries in Nigeria shall continue to have teething problems in the
absence of steady power in the country.

The Technical Adviser made this revelation recently, while
addressing the media, preparatory to the forthcoming nationwide MSME
business clinic in Abuja.

He remarked that his office, in order to encourage the engagement of
the SMEs, has decided to advise thefFederal government, through the
office of the honourable Minister of power, to ensure that there is
improvement in power generations to help the small scale business men
and women grow reasonably and meaningfully contribute to the economic

development.
