Fayose presents N93.4bn, raises alarm over River poll

..Vows to proceed on holy mountain for 2017 prophesy to Nigerians
Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose,on Tuesday presented a budget christened: “Budget of Higher Height, ” with estimate of N93.4 billion to members of the House of Assembly in Ado-Ekiti, saying it would consolidate on his on-going projects in the state.
Presenting the budget yesterday at the floor of the house of Assembly, Fayose raised the alarm that the life of Rivers State Governor, Nyesome Wike is under threat, saying security reports reaching him has shown that governor Wike would be placed on compulsory house arrest on Thursday and any attempt by him to resist it may end his life.
“We have gathered that there is a plan by the APC led government to place governor Wike on house arrest on Thursday night and early morning of Friday. Any attempt by him to resist it may cost him his life. We are raising this alarm now because that is what we have gathered. So, if anything happens to him, we should know who to hold responsible.”
The Governor also disclosed that he would proceed to holy mountain seclusion on the 14th of December, to later resurface on 27th of December to reveal to Nigerians his prophesies for the year 2017.
Fayose who expressed confidence that the budget, which is 33 percent higher than the 2016 Budget of N70.5 billion, would be passed by the state House of Assembly in a matter of days, said the House was carried along during its preparation and as such it would receive speedy passage said:
“I and the state House jointly prepared this budget. He remains the acting Speaker while I’m also the Speaker of the House. That is to tell you that we are working in unity. “
Also while appraising the 2016 Budget, said the state only recorded 89 percent performance due to unfavorable economic climate in the country and which negatively affected the state government.
He said out of proportional estimated revenue of N58.7 billion for 2016, only N52.4 billion was realized as actual revenue.
”The performance of the budget is a reflection of the state of the Nigerian economy. It must be noted that Ekiti State is not immuned to the shocks and depression of the national socio-economic scene. It is no longer news that the economy of the nation is in trauma and this had impacted negatively on the finances of the state,” he stated.
Speaking on the highlights of the 2017 Budget, Governor Fayose said it would focus on the completion of critical projects vital to the administration’s Six Cardinal Programme.
He also said attention would be paid to improving the internally-generated revenue of the state and to curtail extra-budgetary spendings.
For the 2017 Budget estimates, the Recurrent Expenditure is N55.02 billion which is 59 percent of the budget, while Capital Expenditure is N38.42 billion or 41 percent of the estimates.
Out of the Capital Expenditure, the Economic Sector will have N17.9 billion which is 19 percent, Administrative Sector gets N11.5 billion or 12 percent, Social Sector N7.3 billion or 8 percent. Environmental Sector is N1.5bn or 2 percent.
The Speaker, Ekiti State House of Assembly, lauded the governor for what he described as the prudent management of the state’s resources, and gave the assurance that the lawmakers would give speedy consideration to the document.
