Family is thrown into mourning as cultists kill two brothers

Suspected cultists have wreaked havoc in the Nsukka area of Enugu State, killing two brothers and injuring another victim.
Our correspondent learnt that the suspected members of Vikings fraternity laid ambush for the trio after several failed attempts to forcefully initiate them.
On the ill-fated “5th December 2021,” the three friends were returning from church after an evening mass when they ran into the ambush by the armed cultists.
A reliable source said two brothers, Frank and Ebuka Ugwu from Owerre village in Nsukka, paid the supreme price, while their friend, Ijeh Godwin Ukokhu escaped with injuries.
Ukokhu’s relative disclosed that the cultists had hitherto threatened to eliminate their brother after he and his friends refused to join their group.
“Several times, they were threatened by different cult sects to join their movement, but they rejected it; they threatened to kill them if they didn’t join them.
“The matter was reported to the police on the 25th of November 2021, and they assured my family that nothing will happen, but on the 5th of December 2021, they were attacked on their way back from Church.
“Unfortunately, my brother lost two of his friends, Frank and Ebuka Ugwu.
“As I speak to you, my brother is on the run; he is our only son, and we can not afford to lose him to those men without conscience.
“His life has been at stake for long, and the police are unable to protect him,” his sister narrated amid tears.
Meanwhile, the police confirmed the incident but said no arrest had been made yet.
