Fallen Petrol tanker grounds Lagos-Ibadan expressway + PHOTOS

A petrol tanker Thursday morning collided with a truck conveying diesel at Aseese area of Ogun State with fuel gushing out from the petrol tanker.

The accident led to the grounding of both sides of the Lagos – Ibadan expressway.

Many motorists and petrol tankers were trapped in the gridlock as soldiers, policemen, road-safety and fire officials were sighted diverting vehicles from the expressway to bush paths to avoid casualties.

Eyewitness told Daily Times that the accident occurred as a result of reckless packing of commercial bus drivers at the Aseese bus stop.

Our correspondent at the scene of the accident sighted residents in the area with their kegs to scoop some fuel from the tanker.
