Ex- international Okon passes on
The NFF has announced the death of John Ene Okon; the former midfielder passed away in Calabar on Tuesday March 15.
Torrents of tributes have been pouring-in for the late player and former Nigerian national team midfielder John Ene Okon.
The player who featured for Nigeria at the 1987 Fifa U-20 World Cup in Chile as well as the 1992 Africa Cup of Nations in Senegal was reported to have died in Calabar on Tuesday, March 15.
Okon was the coach of Calabar Rovers until his death.
There had been torrents of tributes pouring-in for the humble late player with team mate Etim Esin posting a message on his facebook page saying it was indeed sad news.
“What a sad news, my teammate, John Okon Ene passed on today, Calabar Rovers, Chile 87, Super Eagles, God knows best, RIP,” Etim Esin posted.
