Ex- Information minister emerges Ohaneze Indigbo President General

Former information minister, Chief John Nnia Nwodo on Tuesday in Enugu emerged the President General of  the apex Igbo Socio-cultural organisation, Ohaneze Ndigbo.
Chief Nwodo won Prof. Chinweyite Ejike the pioneer Vice- Chancellor Anambra State University of Science and Technology, ASUTECH, who was the only contender after two other candidates stepped down for Nwodo with 242 votes against 13 votes.

Nwodo, a former minister of aviation and information in his acceptance speech thanked Ndigbo for the confidence reposed in them and promised to serve the association with all his might.

Nwodo who pledged to lead with transparency and accountability said that he would work hard to bring back Igbos to invest in Igboland for the purpose of effective development.

Other candidates for other various positions include: Deputy Secretary General, Solomon Ogunji, Vice President Abia, Elder Barr. Onuoha Udeka; VP Anambra, Mr. Charles Odunukwe; VP Delta, Dr. Ebigwei Sylvester; VP Ebonyi, Prof. Chigozie Ogbu; VP Rivers, Prince Igo Okpalanma; National Treasurer, Emeka Ogwu; Asst. National Treasurer, Chief Hon. Eric Ebeh; National Financial Secretary, Alphonsus Duru; National Asst. Financial Secretary, Elder Chris Eluomunoh; National Publicity Secretary, Barr. Uche Achi; Asst. Publicity Secretary, Charles Ibegbu; National Legal Adviser, Chief Chuks Momah (SAN); Asst. Legal Adviser, Okeagu Ogada. of Deputy President General went to, DIG Hilary Opara (Rtd) while the position of Secretary General went to Barr. Uche Okwukwu.

Onuoha Udeka; VP Anambra, Mr. Charles Odunukwe; VP Delta, Dr. Ebigwei Sylvester; VP Ebonyi, Prof. Chigozie Ogbu; VP Rivers, Prince Igo Okpalanma; National Treasurer, Emeka Ogwu; Asst. National Treasurer, Chief Hon. Eric Ebeh; National Financial Secretary, Alphonsus Duru; National Asst. Financial Secretary, Elder Chris Eluomunoh; National Publicity Secretary, Barr. Uche Achi; Asst. Publicity Secretary, Charles Ibegbu; National Legal Adviser, Chief Chuks Momah (SAN); Asst. Legal Adviser, Okeagu Ogada.

In his valedictory speech, the ex- President General Enwo Nnachi  Igariway urged the incoming executive to fight to for the restructuring of the nation.

“We believe if the country is restructured Igbo will excel”, he said.                                  Investigation by our correspondent revealed that almost all the candidates who won the election were sponsored by governors of their various home states.
