Ewekoro indigenes in Diaspora distribute foodstuffs to vulnerable households

In order to cushion the effects of the lockdown as a result of coronavirus pandemic, indigenes of Ewekoro in Diaspora have donated food items worth millions of naira to vulnerable households and individuals in Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun state.

The Ewekoro indigenes acting under the aegis of Ewekoro Think Tank (ETT) in conjunction with sister body at home – Ewekoro Progressive Forum (EPF) shared branded rice,  beans, garri, and semovita packs to hundreds of beneficiaries cutting across the 10 wards of the local government.

The distribution of the palliatives saw the elderly, widows, widowers, single mothers, single fathers and others with no or weak means of sustainability, smiling home each with a pack of food items worth over N5, 000.

The palliatives committee also visited the palace of the Olu of Itori, Oba Fatai Akamo, to intimate him of their modest contributions toward lessening the burden of the lockdown on the people.

In return, they received royal blessings from the monarch, Oba Akamo, for their kind gesture to the needy.

Head of both the ETT and the charity initiative, Mr. Babatunde Kayode, a United Kingdom – based geologist, commended the  Ewekoro indigenes in Diaspora for extending their helping hands to the vulnerable people at home.

Babatunde said they resolved to reach out to people who needed the food items most with special consideration to people who fall within 55 years and above.
