Election Tribunal: Group condemns clash between PDP, APC supporters Titus Akhigbe,Benin

Coalition of Registered Political Parties (CRPP),. Edo State chapter, has condemned what it called, “a show of shame”, the clash between supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at the premises of the Election Petitions Tribunal recently.
CRPP, in a statement in Benin yesterday signed by Dr. Samson Isibor (Chairman) and Mr.Uyi Williams (Secretary), respectively condemned the action of thugs, who nearly turned the venue of the tribunal to a battle ground.
The group also expressed disappointment over the role played by the police and other security agents that were deployed to the venue of the tribunal to maintain order, saying that, “they folded their hands while the fracas was going on”
CRPP said, “The police should be fair to all parties and discharge their responsibility of protecting lives and property. It is disheartening to hear that the police were watching the thugs unleashing terror using all sorts of dangerous weapons on unsuspecting PDP supporters”
The group therefore advised unemployed youths to be wary of the antics and selfishness of politicians who would want to use and dump them after achieving their aims.
The CRPP noted that using armed thugs cannot change the facts of the petition before the tribunal , saying that “we believe that justice will be done no matter highly placed those that are involved”.
The group called on the police to find the perpetrators and sponsors of the mayhem and bring them to book to serve as a deterrent to others.
