Ekiti PDP congress: Dare Adeleke hints of early resolution

BY STEPHEN GBADAMOSI
The Ekiti State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Caretaker Committee (CTC) chairman, Honourable Dare Adeleke, has hinted of an early resolution of the impasse that caused the postponement of the party’s proposed ward congresses.
The Ekiti PDP congresses, which were expected to begin on Saturday, February 8, was, again, postponed due to a protracted crisis.
But Adeleke, who spoke on the development on Wednesday, said some underground moves had shown signs that the exercise would soon hold.
“Distinguished members and leaders, I greet you this morning with a mix of optimism and caution.

“As we stand at the threshold of our party’s congresses, I have taken note of the various submissions and concerns raised by stakeholders.
“Regrettably, after careful consideration, we are constrained to postpone our congresses, due to lingering issues at the national level.
“I understand the agitation and frustration of our committed members, who are eager to move forward. I share your sentiment, as expressed in the Yoruba palance: ‘Nibo latun ja si yi?’ (Where are we going from here?).
“I assure you that we are working tirelessly to resolve these issues and chart a clear path forward.
“Despite the challenges, we have been working underground to prepare for our ward congresses. We have secured the necessary observers, security agents, and other logistics, ensuring that our congresses will be free, fair, and credible.
“Unfortunately, the (Ayodele) Fayose camp has taken us to the Federal Court of Appeal, seeking a stay of execution, possibly injunction, on the zoning case filed in June.
“We are undeterred by these antics and are confident that justice will prevail.
“I want to thank our leaders who have shown concern and worked closely with us to address these issues. Your support and cooperation are invaluable to our party’s progress.
“To our members, I urge you not to be deterred by these setbacks. Instead, let us remain determined, focused, and committed to our shared vision.
“We will overcome these challenges and emerge stronger.
“On behalf of the CTC, leaders, and members, I appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Together, we will navigate these challenges and build a brighter future for our party.
“I’ve just received uplifting news that we should await further instructions from the national level. I’m hopeful that our prayers for a successful congress will be answered; and we’ll receive a favorable update soon. Thanks,” Adeleke said.
