Ekiti govt debunks N4.1b road project refund claim

Ekiti State government has debunked claims that the Fayose –led administration received a sum of N4.1billion or any amount at all from President Jonathan’s administration as refund for the construction of the Ado-Ifaki road.

Speaking in Ado Ekiti, the State Commissioner for Finance, Chief Toyin Ojo stressed that the allegation “lacked any iota of truth” emphasizing that “no such money came to Ekiti since the advent of this present administration”.

Chief Ojo who said that he was through with the questions put to him by the DSS in about an hour, however, expressed surprise that he was delayed for two days in the guise that the Director-General, who ordered his invitation was not available to regulate his release.

The Commissioner said that though government may invite the head of any institution to clarify knotty issues which would be seen as a “normal business hazard’, his invitation by DSS was “to say the least, frivolous because it had no head or tail.

Ojo described most of the questions by the DSS officials as “unfounded, echoing rumours and hearsay”.
