Ejigbo sodomy: Absence of prosecution witness stalls trial

The trial of leaders of Oba Morufu International Market, Ejigbo, alleged to have tortured three women was stalled on Wednesday owing to the absence of Police prosecution witness.
The victims of the Ejigbo market sodomy are Juliana Agoma, Ajoke Agoma and Nike Salami.
At the resumed hearing of the matter on Wednesday, the prosecutor team led by Mr. Akin George, informed the court, presided by Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye that the witness, Adejuwon Olabisi, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) was not in court.
According to George, ASP Adejuwon is involved in another matter holding in Benin, Edo state.
He asked the court for a short adjournment and to vacate earlier dates fixed for trial.
Justice Ipaye granted the request of the prosecution and vacated the dates earlier fixed for trial.
The matter was thereafter adjourned till May 26 and May 31, 2016 for continuation of trial.
Ten persons had been charged to court by Lagos State government for alleged torture, attempted murder, and sodomy of three women at Oba Morufu International Market in Ejigbo, Lagos in February 2013.
