Eiye Confraternity: Four suspects arraigned in court

Four suspects were yesterday arraigned before a Lagos State Magistrate court sitting in Ikeja on a four-count charge bothering on conspiracy and cultism, levelled against them by the police.
Sodiq Jamiu (20), Oluwatosin Onipede (18), Gbolahan Adedeji (20) and Sodiq Akinosi (19), were arrested and arraigned by the police for conspiring to commit felony to wit : Managing unlawful society called the “Eiye confraternity”, and for partaking in the unlawful activities of the society, thereby committing offences punishable under Section 409 and 42(a)(b) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2011.
The suspects were also accused of displaying cutlasses, knives, battle axe and charm in public, an offence which took place on 5th July at Ilasamaja, Lagos, at 9:00hrs.
The accused persons however pleaded not guilty to the charges and Magistrate Aje Afunwa granted them bail of N200, 000 each with one surety in like sum, who must have verifiable documents of payment of tax.
The matter was adjourned till 19th October, 2016, for mention.
In a similar situation, four suspects were also arraigned before the Magistrate, for partaking in the activities of “Eiye Confraternity”, an unlawful society.
The suspects, Isiaka Saheed (31), Yusuf Hassan (30), Akeem Oyeleye (25), Elias Abdulazeez (24), we’re said to have committed this crime at the 13hrs, on the 8th July, 2016 at Shomolu, Lagos state .
They equally pleaded not guilty to the charges and were granted a bail of #200,000 each with one surety in like sum.
The matter was however adjourned till October 19 for mention.
