Edo guber: APC clears all aspirants
Ahead of Saturday’s primaries for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirants, there are fresh fears over alleged plans by the Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole to impose his candidate on the party even as APC has cleared all the over 10 aspirants in the race.
One of the aspirants, Blessing Agbomhere accused the governor of playing Godfatherism contrary to his initial promise to discourage such trend in the nation’s politics.
He alleged that the Permanent Voters Card (PVCs) were collected to either be cloned or seized claiming that Oshiomhole directed his agents to remove any delegate’s name who refused to submit the PVCs.
His words: “Collecting their PVCs is infringement on their right of choice. How are we sure that these PVCs will be given to them on the Election Day or found in the hands of thugs.
“Edo primary has been compromised. As we speak, more than half of the delegates no longer have their PVCs with them. They were collected by the agents of the Edo Governor.
“Just imagine why the delegates are being threatened by the Edo Government that must submit their cards”, he alleged.
Reacting to the invitation of all aspirants by the governor, he said it was wrong for Oshiomhole to call for such meeting ahead of the governorship primaries adding that Oshiomhole has compromised and already lost his respect and integrity.
He insisted that the governor has been manipulating the electoral process to favour his anointed candidate.
