It is Dubai trip to 10 Golden Chance agents

Nigeria’s foremost lotto company, the Golden Chance Lotto, a subsidiary of Winners Golden Chance Ventures has set another pace in its resolve to blaze new tracks continually for their competitors to trail.

The company which doled out over N80m to winners in a single day recently, made good its promise by sending winners of their best selling agents and their spouses to five-day all-expense-paid trip to Dubai.

At its corporate office on Awolowo Way, Ikeja before their departure, the company’s Chairman, Idowu Obasa, engaged the winners in a 20 minutes drill, giving them all sound reasons not to abscond when they arrive Dubai!

“As you are going, don’t forget you are ambassadors of our great country and of our company. One of the reasons the embassy tried to deny you visa is that they suspect you will not come back after you enter Dubai, but if you know what great business you are handling here, you won’t go and sit back in Dubai. You will just suffer for nothing.

“Dubai is fine o, but fine as it is, it is only good to go there, rest and enjoy yourself and return back to your home because East or West, home is the best.

“There is no country like Nigeria o; I was in Canada for one week, and I tell you, there is no country like Nigeria anywhere in the world. We can be condemning it that is it’s not good, it is this, it is that; but when you travel out, you will know the worth of your own Nigeria. We may not be able to say that to white people o, but to us, Nigeria is still the best place we can live for many reasons time will not permit me to tell you.

“You’re the first set of people we are sending out on this programme, so I implore you all to do it responsibly in such a way that other agents in our group would be encouraged to aspire to win next time.

“What we’re just doing is to appreciate you. To you madams (addressing wives of the winners), if you don’t understand, let me give you some explanations:

“These your husbands are our best sellers. All those nights they return very late from work, it is because their work demands close supervision of their sub-agents because to tell you the truth, most of those sub-agents, if your husbands don’t watch them closely till late nights, they could run away with all the cash sold for that day; so sometimes when your husbands appear to be coming home so late and you will query them saying, ‘Ha! Is it all work that is keeping you this late every day?’, this is the reward and proof that yes, it is work that is keeping them late.

“But I am not excusing them for ‘whatever else’ they may be doing behind your back o! but on this our lotto job, I assure you they need to watch their sub-agents very closely and that demands hard work; otherwise, they will run away with money and put your husbands in trouble.

Don’t hide away in Dunbai o

In a chat with The Daily Times after the briefing, Chairman Idowu Obasa explained his choice for Dubai to encourage his principal agents.

“Dubai is a very popular tourist destination for Nigerians, so we felt that if we have to give our people a treat, Dubai is just the place they can enjoy themselves.”

You’ve been rewarding your principal, agents and sub-agents with tricycles, refrigerators and plasma televisions: what informed this step?

“It’s one of the options of rewards that we do from time to time, and at this time, this type of reward system is becoming popular. Also, we feel it’s necessary for those who work so hard to find time to relax, however short the period, so that they can rejuvenate and come back with more zeal and determination to perform better.”

Your competitors are watching your every step and trailing them: what is your next step?

“That’s the meaning of leadership; you don’t reveal your ace if you want to continue to be a leader. If they mimic what we’re doing, we move a step forward, simple.”

On the over N80m pay out to winners in one day recently, Obasa said, “It is an integral part of our business to pay winnings however big, just as it’s part of our business to collect money for stakings; it’s nothing out of the ordinary and the figure really doesn’t count: it’s the fact that we pay winnings promptly that matters.”

Marketing officer of Golden Chance Lotto, Mrs. Peju Akinbiyi, who flew out with the winners on Friday 15th July spoke to our correspondent upon their return on Thursday.

“It’s a promise kept by the company to reward our best five selling agents and their spouses with a trip to Dubai,” she explained.

“Ten people were actually billed to go, but it was split into two batches at the request of the winners because of their heavy business commitments. Five have gone and come; the remaining five will go in October.”

Giving highlights of the dream trip, Mrs. Akinbiyi said they flew out with Qatar airways and lodged in one of the best hotels. “Each person had allowance of $120 (about N450,000) cash for personal shopping because the package was an all-expense-paid trip.

“In the five days, we went on a tour of the city; we then visited and shopped at the main Dubai mall and the Emirates’ mall.  We also went for high brow Dhaw cruise and spent another day at the Delta Safari, and so on. It was a mind blowing experience,” she said with feeling.
