Casualties have been reported following a fire outbreak at an oil rig operated by Consolidated Oil, an indigenous oil firm at Akassa, Brass LGA of Bayelsa state. The exact cause of the inferno is still unknown.

Update: the fire has been brought under control and put out. A statement from Consolidated Oil says the cause is being investigated.
