Don’t restrict 2027 presidency to South, Frank urges ADC

A former deputy national publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank has advised leadership of opposition coalition African Democratic Congress, ADC to throw the 2027 presidency race open.

He urged the politicians to be pre- occupied with their onerous task of unseating the ruling. all Progressives Congress, APC through the ballots rather than be distracted by zoning it’s presidential ticket in 2027.

The public commentator in a statement in Abuja yesterday focussing on a southern candidate may truncate the rescue mission of the coalition.

Rather than zoning he said ADC should give free room for aspirants from all geopolitical zones to vie for the party’s ticket.

Frank said “the coalition must remain focused on rescuing Nigeria, not zoning. Any attempt to exclude a region from the race will result in a stillbirth for this movement,” while cautioning against what he called “selfish agitations”.

Competent, he said should be the major criteria in picking candidate not ethnic or regional considerations.

He said “Nigeria needs a president for all Nigerians, not a northern or southern president.

“What matters is capacity, credibility and general acceptability, not geography.

“Those saying the South alone must produce presidential candidates for 2027 should perish the thought.

“Their utterances portray members from other geopolitical zones as mere tools to attain power, which is unacceptable”.
