Don't Forget Your Promises, Group Urges Buhari
The President-elect, General MuhammaduBuhari, has been advised to justify the confidence reposed in him by the electorates and fulfil the promises made to the people of the country during his electioneering period.
The Coalition of Patriots, a socio-political group, gave the advice, on Sunday, in a press statement, issued to reporters, in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
The statement, signed by its Coordinator, IfesanmiAjiwoye, admonished General Buhari to use his administration for the good of the country and avoid taken those (electorates), who voted him into position for granted.
Ajiwoye said the victory of the former military administrator, in the presidential election, showed that the prayers of the people for a ‘change’ had been answered.
“The President-elect must, therefore, justify people’s confidence in him by striving to fulfil his promises to them. It is by fulfilling the promises that the change of government will have meaning to them.
“The people of this country prayed to God for a change of government at the centre. God has now answered their prayer through the election of General MuhammaduBuhari”.
He congratulated the president-elect, for his overwhelming victory and called on all stakeholders in the vital sectors of the nation’s economy to bring in their lofty ideas and set agenda for the new central government.
“The political consciousness of the people is now high and they will no longer vote for those who cannot add value to their lives,” the body said.
It also hailed President Goodluck Jonathan for quickly conceding victory, adding that such action would go a long way to ensure post-election peace being enjoyed in the country.
