Disruptive, transformational, transitional leadership: What really matters to us?

The above question becomes inevitable in the light of Nigeria being a member of the globalized community and universal citizenry as well as emerging global reactionary trends to unfolding developments in the United States.

I ask with all sense of modesty on the heels of American 45th president that should naturally make sense and make every out of the box politician happy, but rather jittery even in gladness as may be espoused by evangelicals and religious pundits.

After all, Trump is a business man and loves the good things of life and is over 70 years old, not much of a record. Obama at 55 years left the same job. So, my question is: “what do we really need in Nigeria at this time, drawing from all this conservatism and right wing nationalistic movement across the globe?

A disruptive, transformational or transitional (DTT) leadership?

I can confidently argue that Trump is a disruptor that can as well be transitional if he doesn’t blow it. However, he is no way near being transformational, just as I talked about Jonathan being a transitional president in 2010.

Trump as a disruptor will force all internal (Democratic and Republican Party) and external blocs to think and begin to do something just as we have already seen with the women’s March or the China new mantra of championing globalization or Davos that’s the power disruptors at creating transitions.

We will see more reactions from the Arab nations, Russia and most especially Mexico and Europe. But in all, who will then bring about the transmuted new world order which is much needed?

A new world order which would impact Africa and Nigeria, ridding it of corruption and emancipating its people from
all manner of impoverishment of the mind, pocket and mental servitude which retards Human Developmental Index (HDI)
across the continent.

A genuine world order that will nurture leadership, not business men in disguise that ravage their nation and distort GOD’s creations and at all levels breed ethno- centric conglomerations oiled by naïve and indiscreet dogmas.

The new creed which places more emphasis on colour than nationalism or global citizenship, strengthens impoverishment of the citizenry through reverberating syllables and unending high- pitched songs of sorrow and drums of war, by the same people that have neither the energy nor capacity to execute.

Trump does have a point but lacks the transformational communication skill to interconnect same.

His point of America First should elicit all genuine leaders across the world to think their country and people first to lead to a global new world order of strong countries and a stronger world as you are as strong as your weakest link.

I see a trump in Buhari. So, what do we need in Nigeria? A disruptor? A transformer? Or a transitional leader? And how are we doing? Because out of nothing comes nothing.

Did we get a disruptor in Buhari and transitioning to transformation? I would say yes.

The expected new world order, we all need to become more conciliatory and cognizant. The changed world is not just Nigeria or for Nigerians, but for global citizens so as to communicate an effective scenario to individuals as well as our children, to enable all map out appropriate expectations of the future.

Non-existence of the ideal world order fires lack of faith in a system which also breeds descent and distrust that make positive buy- in imaginary and makes failure of our collective endeavours at nation building, cum unity guaranteed.
