Disquiet in Bayelsa as Gov Dickson set to dissolve State Exco over issues of disloyalty

There is heavy tension among political appointees in Bayelsa state following the decision by the state governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson, to rejig his administration with the dissolution of the State Executive Council (SEC).

The plan, which is already in motion with the directive to all members of the State Exco to start preparing their hand over notes, may take place this week after the visit to the state of the former military Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon.

It was gathered that the directive was given at a meeting with State Commissioners in Yenagoa.‎

A close source to government House told our correspondent that the plan to dissolve the State Exco came few days after the dissolution of the Caretaker Committee of the Eight Local Government Areas of the State.

Another source also alleged that the decision is based on noticeable signs of lacklustre performance, Political distraction and divided loyalty among some state commissioners and other political appointees.

Also some of the State Commissioners are believed not to be totally committed to the ideals of the Restoration administration of Governor Dickson due to the rising storm on the issue of choice of successor in 2019.

While most of the state commissioners are accused of playing politics with the policies of the present administration in the absence of the state governor while on an investment tour of Abuja, others claimed the decision may be based on the divided loyalty of the State Executive Council members among the Nembe/Ogbia and Central Senatorial axis on issue of Dickson’s successor.

‎Attempt to get the position of the State Government on the matter proved abortive as most Political Appointees declined to comment.”
