Delta Police uncovers 3, 784 arms

The Delta State Police Command on Monday told journalists that in its determination to make the state crime free, has uncovered 3, 784 arms build-up at different locations across the state.

Mr. Mohammad Mustafa, the Police Commissioner in the state who made this known when he paraded some armed robbery suspects, including suspecting cultists and recovered arms, said the police arrested one Raphael Reuben 23 years, Okeke Christian, 24 years, and Godstime Solokwie 20 years old on a tip-off, adding that one fabricated revolver pistol, one locally made single barrel pistol four 9mm have ammunitions, two live cartridges, one Samsung Laptop and two mobile phones were recovered from them.

Noting that in one month the police had made remarkable breakthrough, the police boss explained that the suspects while armed with guns went to one Danile Onoyaka, a complainant’s hostel at Oputa Hall, Ozoro, and robbed him and his friends of one Samsung laptop, and three mobile phones.

He said that the suspects thereafter took to their heels and they were given a hot chase by the police, and were later apprehended, adding that following their arrest, the police recovered several guns including ammunitions from them.

On attempted rape murder, the police boss disclosed that one Jeffrey, Emmanuel 19 years of Ovwian Alaya, was arrested after one Samson Okubiro reported a member of the vigilante named Jacob Ofudi was attacked by two armed men named Jeffrey and Believe who shot at him as he was coming back from work and inflicted bullet injuries on his right hand, and chest.

He said that same gang had also previously robbed one Timothy Okoro of Ovwian, and bathed him with acid, and also made away with his properties on the 24th of June 2017, adding that similar gang on 13 April 2017, raped one Divine Okonkwo aged 15 years, and inflicted injuries on his leg with a knife hence they have been on the command’s list of wanted persons until on 6/2/2018 when Jeffrey was arrested, adding that the case was currently under investigation at the State CID.
