…to sue accusers

By Nosa Àkeñzua

Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme has debunked the accusation of forgery laid against him by the SDP governorship candidate, Chief Kenneth Gbagi, describing it as spurious, unfounded and laughable, just as he urged Media outfits to support the truth at all times.

Sir Onyeme made this clarification today July 25, 2023 in his office at Government House Asaba when management team of the National Television Authority, NTA Asaba visited him to felicitate with him on his victory at the election and successful inauguration.

“I want to thank you for doing a very good report on me. This is very good because if you know this much about me, then I am sure you will be able to respond when you get some information that is very untrue.

“Recently, there is a piece of information flying everywhere that the Deputy Governor was dismissed from the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) for forgery. Why some of us did not talk is laughable.

“Forgery of what? What will somebody like me forged, is it a certificate or financial transaction,” Onyeme queried.

The Deputy Governor, in a surprise wandered when Chief Gbagi set up any panel that probed and suspended him from the National Open University of Nigeria, just as he questioned the weak law institution of the nation which gave room for such spurious and unfounded accusation by a supposed respected Nigerian under an oath in a law court.

While commending the management of NTA for the investigation on his person, the deputy governor urged media outfits to support the truth at all times, stressing that when some false information were used and spread by media outfits over time, those who were not privy to the truth may believe them.

Onyeme said the state was well positioned to partner with NTA and other media outfits in the state.
