Customers win millions in Sterling Bank’s promo

Over 192 customers of Sterling Bank have been rewarded with millions of naira in the bank’s on-going savings reward promo, tagged: What have you got to win?

The promo, which was launched last March by the bank, has seen winners of the first draw presented with different prizes, as 29 individual customers with a minimum balance of N25,000 in their savings accounts won N1 million each, 40 customers with a weekly balance of N10,000 in their accounts won N50,000 each, while four non-individual customers with Sterling Plus accounts won N250,000 each.

The bank explained that the customer loyalty reward encourages a culture of saving among Nigerians, while it is endorsed by the National Lottery Regulatory Commission, the Consumer Protection Council (CPC) and the Lagos State Lotteries Board (LSLB).

The lender further noted that customers were selected via an electronic raffle draw system and winners emerged from various parts of the country.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at the corporate headquarters of the bank in Lagos, Mr. Henry Bassey, Chief Marketing Officer, Sterling Bank Plc, said that 192 customers will win N1 million each, amounting to N192 million between now and February 2018.

He said the objective of the promo is to enrich the lives of the bank’s customers. He added that since the bank embarked on the initiative about three years ago, there have been testimonies of how the bank has positively affected people’s lives.

Some of the winning customers shared their experiences of how they reacted when they first learnt they had won prizes in the promo.

Reminiscing, Ojo Bamidele, a customer with the Adebola House Branch in Opebi, Lagos, who won N1million in the promo said: “I was on my way out of the office when my phone rang and I picked it, then my branch manager told me that I have won N1m in the promo. I dismissed it and said I don’t believe in it and I’m not excited because we have many people doing this kind of thing.”

He added that the following day, the branch manager called again and asked him to confirm the good news through one of the directors of the bank.

Mrs. Junaid Samiat, another customer who won N1m from the Idumota branch of the bank, said when the bank called her she responded in disbelief telling the caller “419 has started again because I did not play Baba Ijebu”.

However, when she gave the phone to her daughter, she confirmed that the call was a genuine one from her branch of the bank.

A highly elated Mrs. Onyenna Ifeoma who also won N1m from the Alaba International Market branch of the bank, said she would first pay her tithe as a good Christian before channeling the remaining money into her business. She also promised to bring a hundred new customers to the bank from the market.

Clubs, Associations, Churches and Mosques (non-individual saving plus account holders) who have savings plus accounts with a minimum balance of N50,000 also qualify for the monthly draw of N250,000; A savings account customer with a minimum balance of N10,000 qualifies for the monthly draw of N50,000 or a Kia Picanto car.

In the same vein, a savings account customer with a minimum balance of N25,000 qualifies for the N1 million draw, while a savings account holder with a minimum balance of N50,000 is entitled to a fully paid holiday/shopping voucher worth N1m.
