Cult killings: Family cries for help over death threats

BENIN CITY —Following the recent cult clash, which took place in Benin City, Edo State and other parts of Nigeria that claimed the lives of many youths in the months of October and November 2024, several concerned persons, organizations and non- governmental organizations have called on the local, state and federal government to find lasting solution to the perennial problems that have claimed the lives of hundred of thousands of youths in the country.

The Black Axe Confraternity aka Axemen, Eiye Confraternity, Vikings and the Mafia or Mafight Confraternity are the most deadliest in the country.

The Black Axe, aka Axemen, is one of the most feared, dangerous and powerful organised crime groups in the country.The highly secretive Black Axe is a secret cult group in Nigeria.

The group according to findings, send members to cajole unsuspecting youths mostly underage to join the group. The process of initiation which includes torturing and drinking of fetish substance sometimes led to the death of some of the youth during the initiation process.

The cult group is involved in killing people have been accused of countless murders.

The group is also involved in internet or cyber fraud where it is estimated that they earn millions of dollars yearly It is widely believe that some powerful Nigerian politicians, who are members of these secret cult groups are the people supporting and sponsoring the activities of this groups.

As this deadly and evil acts are going on, the family of Ezenwoko residing at No 34 Old Oka Market Road Off Upper Sokponba Road, Benin City, Edo State has cried out over consistence harassment and threats to their lives over the refusal of Ezenwoko Clifford Osita to join the black Axe.

A family source who spoke to our reporter on condition of anonymity, said that the group have been on the neck of Cllifford since 2010 during his school days when they told him to be initiated into their group.

Is refusal, which did not go down well with the cult members, has led to several warnings as they told him that he would be killed if he refused to be initiated. Several attempts have been made on his life. In June 2024, the family house was invaded by armed men, though Clifford was not at home.

The source said that, when they first attack Clifford in August 2013, the matter was reported at the police station and nothing was done. This latest secret cult crisis also affected the family as some armed men came looking for Clifford.

Since this latest attack, the family members have absconded from their home for fear of being killed as they (the cult members) have warned of dire consequences if Ezenwoko Clifford Osita is not found. As at the time of filing this report the whereabouts of Clifford is unknown as he has gone into hiding.
