Cristiano Ronaldo suffered a “minor thigh injury” in Portugal’s Euro 2020 qualifier against Serbia on Monday, Juventus have confirmed.
Ronaldo went off 31 minutes into the clash in Lisbon after appearing to sustain a muscle problem while chasing after the ball.
After the game, the 34-year-old insisted the issue was not serious and that he hopes to be fit in time for the first leg of Juventus’ Champions League quarter-final against Ajax on April 10, telling reporters: “I know I should be back in a week or two.”
Juve have now confirmed that he suffered a thigh injury but have not put a timescale on his return.
A statement on their official website read: “Cristiano Ronaldo was subjected to investigations in Portugal that showed an apparent minor injury to the right thigh.
“His condition will be monitored and will be subjected to new investigations to determine when he can resume playing.”
Runaway league leaders Juve will face Empoli, Cagliari and AC Milan in Serie A action before heading to Amsterdam.
