The Crisis In Ondo PDP Made Me Leave For APC, Says Senator Omogunwa

Senator Omogunwa who spoke at a press briefing with journalists held in Akure, the State capital on Tuesday added that he left for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the interest of to develop his constituency.
Omogunwa disclosed that his decision was also in consonance with the conviction that development of the people should be given priority by any political leader.
He explained that the ranging crisis also led to the factionalization of the umbrella party in the state made it lose out in November 26, 2016, governorship election.
“For me, I found it a worthy adventure on the ground that virtually all the strategic projects that could transform the lives of the people of Ondo State South Senatorial District can only be successfully executed with the full cooperation and inputs of the Federal Government.”
Mr. Omogunwa was elected at the Senate House of the National Assembly under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015 during the General election.
The Ondo Senator disclosed that he decided to jump the ship of the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC) having considered the implication of being at the receiving end in the camp of the opposition party in the state.
According to him,  the people of the Southern and Northern Senatorial District of the state have been shortchanged in the political calculations of the state.
He berated the outgoing Governor Olusegun Mimiko for pushing forward the choice of Eyitayo Jegede as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the justconcluded guber Poll of the state.
“The Party became so factionalised so much that the participation and even the success of the party at the gubernatorial election was severely threatened” Omogunwa added.
He noted that his mission of transforming the lives of the people whom he represents at the Senate House of the National Assembly can only materialized under a stable government.
Senator Omogunwa further maintained that he opted to work for the emergence of governor-elect in the November 26 poll, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu for meanifull reprensenation of his people.
“The expectations of the people and their desire can only be realised on the stable platform that is strategically positioned for such assignment.  This is what the APC has come to represent in this dispensation.
“I foresee a better development with the incoming of the governor-elect. All the senators in Ondo State now APC, we can’t fight a cause and fail: the three of us will continue to do that not minding where we were representing”
He, however, said he was prepared to join hands with the incoming government of Barrister Rotimi Akeredolu to ensure a rapid development of the state.
Senator Omogunwa expressed optimism that the incoming government of Akeredolu would revive the sinking economy of the State and provids employment for the teeming youths who have already lost hope in the administration of the state.
“In Ondo State, no matter the huge amount that will be inherited by the new government, Akeredolu will still come and perform.
“I know that he will draw a line, plan how to pay the outstanding debts; if it requires borrowing, borrow and move on. Lagos State is a heavy loaner, and its making it” he said.
