Crisis: ASUU-OAU faction dissolves excos

A faction of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Obafemi Awolowo University branch has dissolved the cabinet of the union.
This was contained in a resolution signed by the Chairman, Caretaker Committee, Dr. Niyi Sunmonu.
A copy of the resolution made available‎ to our correspondent stated that the executives were dissolved after the report of an investigative committee.
The resolution was taken at a congress held December 14, in which a voice vote was used to remove the suspended members of executive of ASUU from office.
The names of the suspended members of the executives are: Dr Caleb Aborisade; branch Chairperson; Dr Deborah Makinde; branch Vice Chairperson; Dr. Temitope Olomola, secretary; Dr. Omolola Komolafe, assistant secretary.
Others are: Dr. Saheed Adekilekun; financial secretary; Dr. Luqman Bisiriyu, welfare officer; Dr. A.A. Ajala; investment officer and Dr. Adeola Egbedokun, internal auditor.
The resolution noted that “the congress also resolved that the suspended treasuer, Dr. M.O. Awoyemi, be retained as the branch treasure on the ground that he was not culpable of any wrong doing by the investigative panel.”
In same vein, congress resolved to “forward its decision on the removal of the affected members of executive to the National Executive Council (NEC) of the union for ratification”.
When contacted, the chairman of ASUU-OAU, Dr. Caleb Aborisade said, “I still remain the chairman. ASUU matter is not meant for the press.”
