Zamfara state government has closed down Shinkafi Market in Shinkafi Local Government Area of the state, following the suspected spread of coronavirus in the area.

Usman Nagogo, commissioner of police in the state, made the disclosure at a media briefing in Gusau on Monday.

Nagogo said two other markets, Tsafe and Gurbin-bore have also been closed to prevent the spread of the coronavirus among citizens of the state.

He said that the closure of the markets was indefinite to prevent people from contracting the virus.

The commissioner urged residents to use face masks while in public, hand washing and maintain physical distancing as preventive measures against the spread of the virus.
