COVID-19: Oyo begins fresh awareness campaign in major markets

Oyo state government on Monday renewed its sensitization campaigns in major markets in Ibadan on the preventive measures against coronavirus pandemic.

The campaign was led by Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun, commissioner for information, culture and tourism who is head of the media sub-committee of the Oyo state Task Force on COVID-19.
Also on the sensitisation team is Mr. Fatai Owoseni, special adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on security matters.
The team sensitised the traders in English, Yoruba and Hausa languages, thus giving the traders the opportunity to have access to information on COVID-19.
They told the traders that the fresh campaign was necessary as the state government gradually eases the lockdown of the state.
Olatubosun informed the traders at Bodija and Ojoo markets, among others, that coronavirus was real and the need to be conscious of it by observing all the precautionary measures outlined by the NCDC and the state government.

Olatubosun urged the traders to abide by the social/physical distancing and avoid close contact with people sneezing, coughing or having running nose.
“Wear your face masks always, wash your hands at intervals with soap under running water and use hand sanitizers always as money exchanges hands,” the commissioner said.
Owoseni also told the traders to report to government any suspected travelers from other state into the market, saying interstate restriction of movement was still on.
