COVID-19: I advised Buhari to reopen worship centers – Gov. Lalong

Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State has said alongside other four governors, President Muhammadu Buhari was advised to reopen worship centers, owing to the fact that the country is doing its best to contain the ravaging scourge.

Lalong disclosed this on Sunday in Jos during a church service to commemorate his five years in office and the 2020 Democracy day.

According the Governor, “the President appointed me with four other Governors of Lagos, Kano, Delta and Bauchi States, to advice him on the recommendation of the Presidential Task Force (PTF), on COVID-19, and we recommended that worship centers should be reopened.
“I think I was selected among the Governor’s that will advice the President because of the level of compliance we attained in Plateau”, Lalong said.
While appreciating God for the opportunity to serve the people of Plateau, Lalong said he has done so much in the last five years to stabilise the State and restore it to the the path of unity and progress.
“Let me use this opportunity to appreciate God for giving me and my Deputy, Prof. Sonni Tyoden the privilege to serve the people in the last five years. At the same time, we thank the people of the State for giving us their mandate during the 2015 and 2019 elections.
“We recognize that they had many choices among the many aspirants and candidates, but chose to vote for us. We cannot take this for granted as we are humbled by this responsibility bestowed upon us to work for the peace, progress and development of the State”.
On his part, the All Progressives Congress (APC), party chairman in the State, Hon. Latep Daban, laud the Governor for his steadfastness in piloting the State affairs without fear or favour.
