The senator representing the Nasarawa South Senatorial District, Sen. Tanko Al-makura on Wednesday distributed 3, 000 bags of rice to the less privileged in his constituency.
The exercise which took place at the senator’s constituency office along Jos rRad in Lafia, was witnessed by selected stakeholders and councillors representing the five local government areas of Lafia, Awe, Doma, Obi and Keana that make up the Senatorial district.
The palliative, according to Sen. Al-makura, would go a long way to assist the less privileged contain the difficulties they face as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
He said: “In line with the most laudable efforts of the federal and state governments, as a senator representing the southern zone, I decided to support members of my zone by way of releasing the palliatives.”

He added that the Ramadan fast coinciding with the COVID-19 era has thrown most people into confusion and challenges which necessitated his support to reduce the hardship being experienced by people.
The senator revealed that the donated items would he shared to the wards and polling units in the Senatorial district to ensure no part would is left out.
“I have 53 wards and each ward will go home with 50 bags of the commodity, each electoral ward has units and if that arrangement is followed, no part will be left out,” Al-makura stated.
He therefore, called on members of the zone to comply with the federal and state governments laid down directives of constant hand washing, use of face masks and social distancing as it has been identified as the most potent way to prevent the virus.
