Come out as politician, stop hiding under the guise of being a religious leader

The Primate of Inri Evangelical Church, Babatunde Elijah on Thursday, urged religious leaders not to shy away from politics, but to be active involved in issues of development and unity of the country.
Elijah in an interview with newsmen urged religious leaders to always speak the truth at all times and also be ready to proffer solutions to issues.
“Religious leaders should always speak out when things are going wrong in the country. “If they want to be politicians, they should come out as one and not hide under the guise of being a religious leader,” he said.
The cleric who condemned the recent killings in Southern Kaduna, urged the Federal Government to wade into the matter to prevent a re-occurrence, adding that its primary duty is to protect lives and property of the citizens.
“No religion supports violence.
As a Christian, we detest the sight of blood. Human life is sacred and nobody has the right to take the life of a fellow human being.
“Life is sacrosanct, you cannot continually kill people and it should not be taken for granted.
“Nonetheless, we call for caution, we remind all stakeholders that both the Quran and the Bible enjoin caution in cases like this.
“Those found to have committed the crime should be dealt with, if not it will continually repeat itself,” he warned.
