The STF also known as Operation Safe Heaven mandated to restore peace in Plateau, some part of Bauchi State and Southern Kaduna said the incident occurred at about 8pm on Christmas Eve.
In a statement signed by the Sector Commander in Jama’a LGA and made available to newsmen on Monday, the Statement reads, “on the 24th of December 2017, at about 8pm, troops of OPSH responded a distress call of an attack at Ungwan Mailafia village in Kwagiri district of Jama’a LGA of Kaduna State.
“Troops found out unknown persons opened fire on villagers in their homes: five persons were confirmed dead six others sustained various degree of injuries: the injured were evacuated immediately by the STF troops to the health center at Kwagiri for medical attention.
“On the receipt for the distressed calls, the troops, OPSH, moved swiftly to the scene, but the gunmen had fled, and a rapid search was conducted within the surrounding environment, leading to reinforcement of the general area to prevent further attacks and break down of law and order”, the statement reads.
