Catholic Archbishop urges nations to unite to end COVID-19

Jos – Archbishop Matthew Ndagoso of the Catholic Archdiocese of Kaduna has urged nations of the world to unite to end Coronavirus that is currently on the rampage.

Ndagoso made the call in his sermon at the formal installation of the new archbishop of Jos, Most Rev. Matthew Audu, on Tuesday in Jos.

Pope Francis on Jan. 6 appointed Audu as the new Catholic Archbishop of Jos.

Audu who succeeds Kaigama as the new the Chief Shepherd of the Sea of Abuja was installed the pioneer bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Lafia on March 31, 2001.

The formal installation, Audu will serve as the Metropolitan Archbishop of Jos Ecclesiastical Province.

According to him, the pandemic has brought home the reality that the world is a global village, adding that it has further showed how interconnected and dependent the world is.

“COVID-19 pandemic has brought home the reality of our world being a global village.

“It has shown us in no uncertain terms how interconnected and dependent we are upon each other and the fact that no country is an island; hence, the need for countries of the world to work harder for the strengthening of the universal bond of brothers in our global village.

“Humanity must work in concert in order to be a step ahead of this invisible enemy. We believe it is by working together as a global village that we will be able to defeat this dreaded virus.

“This is the time to stick together; time to help each other; time to be our brother’s keepers,” he said.

The prelate called on governments of various nations to work assidously toward addressing the menace (NAN)
