Carpenter arraigned for allegedly stealing tricycle in Delta

The police in Asaba, Delta State have arraigned a 22-year-old carpenter, Hassan Steven, for allegedly stealing a tricycle valued N610, 000.

The accused person was Thursday arraigned before Magistrate Okonkwo Okanume of Magistrate Court 2, Asaba on two count charges bordering on stealing of tricycle in Asaba and others.

The police prosecutor, Sergeant Blessing Okafor, told the court that the accused person allegedly stole a tricycle worth N610, 000 where the owner parked it around Abraka Way, Asaba in January 2017.

According to the charges, “that you accused person, Hassan Steve and others at large on the 20th day of January 2017 did stole TVS tricycle with registration number ASB 224 VK valued N610, 000 property of one Chuks Odum.

The offences, according to the prosecutor, are punishable under section 516 and 390 of the criminal code laws of federal republic of Nigeria.

But the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and the magistrate granted him bail with surety resident in Asaba and adjourned the case to February 13, 2017 for further hearing.

Meanwhile, a 47 year old man, Cosmos Iwulala, is at present standing trial before an Asaba Magistrate Court for allegedly obtaining N850, 000 under false pretense.

The accused person with the charge sheet number CMA/44C/2017, with two court charges, of conspiracy and obtaining under false pretense, was said to have with two others, allegedly duped one Emmanuel Chukwuemeka under false pretense that they will supply him with diesel, knowing full well that they had no diesel to supply.

The police prosecutor, Sergeant James Okoh, had told the court that the accused person’s offence was punishable under sections 516 and 419 of the criminal code laws of Delta State 2006.

But the accused pleaded not guilty and was granted bail by Chief Magistrate Okonkwo Okanume with a surety residing in Asaba and adjourned hearing to February 13, 2017.
