We Can’t Trust Buhari With The Future, Says PDP Chieftain

As preparation for the Presidential election gathers momentum, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Gbaramatu Kingdom in Delta state, Chief Towei Jackson Tortor has predicted victory for President Goodluck Jonathan saying that the All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential candidate, General Mohammadu Buhari can’t be trusted with the future of the country.

Tortor who doubles as National Coordinator of Niger Delta Peace Ambassador, in an interview with Daily Times on Wednesday said that it would be disastrous for Nigerians to election Buhari whom he described as an anti-democratic agent who according to him has remained unapologetic for all his evil deeds.

He said that it would be better to mobilize his over 5000 grassroot supporters from creeks of Delta state to vote Jonathan, a known transformation agent and a democrat than to put an unrepentant dictator back to power.

“Jonathan is not an ethnic bigot, he is a true democrat who believes in the rule of law and indivisibility of Nigeria. Jonathan have done well in many areas, in the aviation sector, the area of road network, transportation, agricultural sector, just name it.

“Considering where we are coming from, Jonathan have performed better than his predecessor and we at the riverine communities are happy with him”.

He however allayed fears of those who believe that Jonathan’s second tenure would be tough on them saying; “There is this say that the devil you know is better that the angel you don’t know. Jonathan, we know, we have tested and trusted but who is Buhari?

According to him; “Till date Buhari still speaks as a dictator, he still act like one, he is unapologetic for all his evil actions, he has said it himself that he can’t change his past, meaning all his anti-democratic action would leave with him forever, he is not ready to correct his wrongs so why should we trust him with the future.

“I think he remain a soldier and I don’t believe a person of his kind is fit in this democratic setting.

“Buhari can’t match Jonathan in any election, he will always be a loser, Jonathan has done it before and he would do it again remarkably”.

Tortor, who also vowed to mobilize massively to ensure that the April 11 governorship election turnout to be a work over for PDP governorship candidate in Delta state, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa/Kingley Utuaro, allayed the fear that the continuous criticism which had trailed the Jonathan’s administration would work against him at the polls saying that criticism is part of democracy and it doesn’t mean he has not fare well in administration of the country’s affairs.

According to him, Jonathan have not been deterred by the political criticism hauled at him by his detractors rather, he has become strong in handling affairs of the nation, adding however that unrestrained criticism doesn’t guarantee good governance rather its slow its wheel of progress.

Consequently, he said, despite the incitement, the unnecessary political mudslinging, the staged-managed crisis in the North-East to discredit Jonathan, the country is still progressing in its socio-economic indices, saying that the records are there that Nigeria economy has fare well more than never before under Jonathan’s administration.

He said that the North should be grateful to Jonathan because he brought infrastructural development, education as well as civilization to them, inciting the development of the Amaljiri educational system and building of nine university as major achievement of the Jonathan’s administration.

While describing Jonathan as President par excellence in the history of Nigeria, Tortor expressed optimism that Jonathan would floor Buhari at the polls saying; “many people who you think are working for the opposition today would jilt them at the dying minute and vote Jonathan”.
