Nigerian First lady Dame Patience has described the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a party of propagandists and saboteurs whose principals were busy building prisons while Jonathan’s administration was busy building schools.
The First Lady was in Ibadan for the campaign rally in support of the second term for her husband held at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, formerly Liberty Stadium. Oke Ado, Ibadan. It was organized by Women Mobilisation for Goodluck Jonathan.
Accompanied by women personalities including the National PDP Women Leader, Chief Dr. (Mrs) Kemi Chikwe, Oloye Jumoke Akinjide (Minister for the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja), Mrs Margaret Peter Obi, Mrs Betty Igwe (Director, Women Mobilization), wife of Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo, Kemi, wife of the Oyo state governorship candidate of the PDP, Mrs Angela Folarin, daughter of the Alaafin of Oyo, Princess Folasade Adeyemi (House of Assembly PDP candidate for the Oyo federal constituency), and Mrs Lanre Olanrewaju Otiti (Oyo South senatorial candidate), among others.
Mama Peace harped on the threat by the APC presidential candidate, General Mohammadu Buhari, that the Ikoyi Prison should be preparing to accommodate many politicians if he should emerge winner in the March 28 election, saying, “they don’t have any quality material to sell. All they did was to send your fathers to prison. Some of your fathers died in prison. Alhaji Busari Adelakun was a victim of Buhari’s brutality. They are coming again to chain your fathers and mothers. They have nothing to offer. PDP has come to liberate you. Do you want same thing to happen to your fathers again?”, she asked the teeming youths who chorused, ‘No!’.
Describing APC as an abandoned drug, Mrs Jonathan urged the people of Oyo state ” to vote for President Goodluck Jonathan and Senator Teslim Folarin”, whom he described as “a good material for the governorship of the state, who will not disappoint you”.
Against the directive of the Inspector General of Police, Mr Sulaiman Abba, that all voters must leave voting centres immediately they cast their votes, Mrs Jonathan said, “If they drive you away, stay somewhere and watch. If you vote APC, Buhari, it is your prison; but if you vote Jonathan, that is transformation”.
She said that her husband meant well for the masses of Nigeria in the provision of food, infrastructural facilities including railways, building of 14 federal universities including one in Katsina, the home town of Buhari, as well as empowerment of women generally.
Akinjide said that “the battle is already won by President Goodluck Jonathan and the PDP. Political battles are not won on the pages of newspapers as the APC are used to, but by the performance of the office holder. The people have seen the lies of the APC and they will demonstrate this by voting Jonathan. He has brought us out of shadow to light “, she said.
Folarin, the governorship candidate, praised Jonathan, urging that he should be voted for massively on Saturday, promising that PDP is the party to beat in the April 11 governorship election.
