Buhari commissions FCT metro rail

…Says his leadership cares
President Mohammadu Buhari, yesterday commissioned the Abuja metro light rail, and asked Nigerians to believe in the ability of his administration as it means well for the wellbeing of the people.

He said, “the new rail project having been completed within the shot time of this administration, is another evidence that we are government that cares for the people. I thank the Minister of the FCT for his ability to complete the project within for years”.

President Buhari, however, urged the Chinese civil engineering construction company (CCECC), to continue to offer reasonable services in all their contracts and more especially the newly commissioned Abuja metro rail and the National rail project to seal the existing relationship between the two Nations.

Meanwhile, the president has urged management of the FCT metro rail project to ensure maximum customer services to ensure corporation between the two.

Speaking while welcoming dignitaries at the occasion, the Minister of FCT, Mallam Mohammed Bello, revealed that the Abuja Rail Mass Transit System which has a total cost of $1.3 billion is an integral part of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Transportation Master Plan designed primarily to transport large number of commuters and goods between Satellite Towns into the Metropolitan Public Transport system and the different Phases of the Federal Capital City (FCC).

According to the Minister, the Abuja rail system is packaged into 6 Lots planned for phased development, based on preferential demand and available financial resources. He further stated that the Abuja Rail Mass Transit System is planned to integrate with the National Rail Network when eventually completed.
