Boss Mustapha takes over as SGF, promises purposeful leadership

THE new Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Boss Gida Mustapha has official assumed office on Wednesday with a promise to give a purposeful leadership for the good of the country.
Mustapha gave the assurance during the formal handover ceremony at his office in Abuja.
The SGF said that the appointment requires a lot of sacrifice, urging the six Permanent Secretaries, Presidential aides and staff members in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation to work in synergy for a common goal.
The SGF who replaced the sacked SGF, Mr Babachir David Lawal, took over from the assured that he would run an all inclusive policy based on professionalism and integrity to ensure that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari succeed in its agenda to develop the Nigerian.
“We have competent people in Nigeria that can give their best for the country, people are ready to work but there must be welfare, they must be encouraged and provided with the need tools to work,” he said.
“We have the responsibility to ensure that this govt succeed, we are suppose to work in synergy to make things better. We cannot continue to work in sideline. Buhari has the passion for the country, and we must join hand to move our people out of poverty people have been impoverished for a very long time and President Buhari is very determined to achieve that.
“We should be able to help government turn around the tide that has happened in the country. I don’t know it all but I will depend on each and every one of you to succeed.
I did not come to this office with any special experience but with the grace of God to see me through.
“We can craft a new ideas to ensure that this government succeed. We can recover the grounds that we have lost. If we don’t do our jobs nobody will succeed, we have to be given the opportunity to carryout our responsibilities. I will be fair, equity and just in dealings with each and everyone not by sentiments but on the skill each and everyone brings to the table,” the SGF added.
He commended the former acting SGF, Dr Habiba Lawan for the good work she has done within the last six months she acted saying that the Federal Executive Council on Wednesday commended her sterling performance.
Mustapha said that in the last one year five months that he assumed office as Managaing Director of National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), he was able to transform the agency which many people fondly call “new NIWA”.
Earlier in her remarks, the former acting SGF, Habiba Lawan told her successor that there are six Permanent Secretaries in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and there are also 21 agencies under the OSGF and that each and every permanent secretary and the head of the agencies will brief him.
She said that from the various briefings he would be able to know where each office is, their performances, successes and challenges.
