Boko Haram: TBN Canvasses Support For Nigerian Troops
The Transformation Believers of Nigeria (TBN), a nascent Youth-dominated Group, on Thursday held a March for Victory-cum-Rally in Abuja to launch the body’s “#WeCare” Initiative which aims to galvanize empathy and support for Nigerian troops and their loved ones, especially during the ongoing war against terrorism.
The Rally which was attended by thousands of youths held at the strategic Unity Fountain, opposite Transcorp Hilton in Abuja. The Rally kicked off with a March across Abuja metropolis by the youths who were drawn from across all ethnic and religious divides in the country.
Addressing the Rally, Mr Tony I. Uranta, the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria National Summit Group (NNSG) said that the gathering of the youth was a noble initiative in support Nigeria’s Fighting Forces.
He said, “We need to build up our troops morale to fight terrorism. I care about our gallant fighting forces, hitherto betrayed by internal and global foes. I care about the widows, orphans and other traumatised relatives of these gallant men. I care about the Chibok Girls, the Alu Boys and thousands of other abducted, killed, displaced and dehumanized Nigerians and their loved ones who are victims of these on-going murderous national and international terrorism.”
Uranta further said that he cared about Nigeria’s future as a united, secure, peaceful and prosperous nation premised on the far-reaching Resolutions, that were passed consensually by the 2014 National Conference convened by President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
“I care about helping re-elect Goodluck Jonathan so that Nigeria can truly be transformed through the implementation of the National Conference’s Resolution which only he has committed to so implementing upon being returned to Aso Villa” he said.
Speaking on the novel “#WeCare Challenge Project” of the group, ultimately designed to tangibly support the troops and their loved ones, Uranta challenged President Jonathan, Mr John Momoh (Chairman, Channels Television), Mrs Diezani Allison-Madueke (President of OPEC), Gov Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo and Pastor Paul Adefarasin of House On The Rock, to declare what they really care for, and to each nominate another five of their acquaintances (who could be Presidents, Entertainers, Artisans etc from anywhere around the world) to do likewise.
Also speaking, Mrs Bola Preye Ayo, one of the group’s Coordinators said that the “#WeCare Challenge” will be formally launched soon, and when fully unveiled would encapsulate a Unique Empowerment Initiative that would bless thousands tangibly, honouring thousands of Nigerian troops killed or maimed fighting terrorism or in some other theaters of conflict.
She tasked Nigerians to empathise with families of the dead soldiers rather than to continue being harshly critical or partisanly apathetic to their peculiar circumstances in this ongoing fight against terrorism.
Wale Ajani, TBN Team Leader, said that if our military is not encouraged, their spirit would be dampened, and they expose all of us to danger because they would be unable to optimally fight and sacrifice themselves for the rest of the citizenry. He said, “these soldiers face death every day, and must be made to feel that the people they are defending appreciate their sacrifice” he added.
