Bayelsa lawmaker empowers 30 farmers

As part of moves to encourage local farming in rural area, the lawmaker representing Ogbia Constituency One at the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Chief Mitema Obordor, has given financial grants to over 30 farmers in order for them to go into large scale farming as part of his empowerment scheme.

The lawmaker who was at his Constituency recently for a consultative meeting with stakeholders at the Ogbia Brotherhood Hall in Ogbia Town also selected about 40 youths who will undergo skills acquisition programmes in various fields.

While speaking to newsmen after the empowerment programme, Chief Mitema Obordor, stated that the financial empowerment was necessary nowing to the fact that a lot of the people of his constituency depend on farming for their livelihoods.

He also stressed the need for all lawmakers to, at all times, meet with those whom they are representing in order to seek their opinion and know their ordeal for them to be on a safer side when formulating policies at the assembly.

According to him, “there is more to be done to drive the development process and move the constituency to greater heights,” and also called on all hands to be on deck as development is a collective effort.

Chief Mitema Obordor also enjoined his people to be united, maintain peace and work as a team to collectively attract development to the area.

 

 

 

He also used the medium to thank all the communities under his

constituency for their voluntary support during and after the

election, and reiterated his commitment towards addressing their

various challenges unshakably.

“This has reflected in my contributions during debates and moving of

motions that are of mutual interest and benefit to our people,” he

stated.
