Bauchi assures Corps members of hospitable treatment, adequate security

Bauchi state Governor, Bala Mohammed on Tuesday, assured the youth corps members deployed to the state of adequate security and hospitable treatment throughout their service period.
The Governor who was speaking during the closing ceremony of the 2021 Batch A, stream 1 orientation course for the Corps members at Wailo camp, advised them to respect the culture, norms, and tradition of their host communities.
He said that the Bauchi state government has always placed a high premium on the safety and welfare of corps members, assuring that the government has created an enabling environment for them to have a fulfilling and rewarding year of service.
Represented by his deputy, Senator Baba Tela, the Governor who expressed delight over the quality of the parade staged by the corp members during the occasion, attributed it to the commitment of their trainers from Shadawanka Army Barrack.
He said that the orientation exercise has no doubt put the corps members in good shape for higher and efficient performance during their service year, urging the youth to be guided by the various training received in the camp.
The Governor reminded the youth Corps members that the main objective of the National Youth Service is to mold them into agents of unity and development, adding that It is also to shape them to become self-reliant.
He said that the present administration in the state has embarked on meaningful developmental projects that are aimed at uplifting the living standard of the people of Bauchi state.
He challenged the corps members to put into use, other components of the program when they are discharged at the end of their service year and set up their small-scale businesses to enable them to become self-reliant.
Earlier in an address, the Chairman, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Governing Board, Alh. Manu Soro while speaking at the occasion expressed appreciation to God for making the orientation a success.
He added that the corps members have been fully equipped with the necessary knowledge to carry out the one-year mandatory service.
“Gentlemen, corps members, as you are aware, national service is a call to selfless service, you are, therefore, expected to be of exemplary conduct and be good ambassadors in all segments of the society in your communities”, he said.
He urged the corps members to remain focused on their respective areas of services and avoid unnecessary travel.
“Your predecessors have left enviable legacies in all segments of our society, I, therefore, urged you build on that while also surpassing the contributions they made for the socio-economic development of the society”, he said.
