Barcelona Announce Koeman’s appointment as manager

Barcelona have announced club legend, Ronald Koeman as new manager, as the club hopes to steady its flailing ship.

Koeman, a former Barcelona defender and erstwhile coach of the Dutch national team, played for Barça between 1989 and 1995.

He won a host of trophies with Barcelona and was part of the revered 1992 squad that won the UEFA Champions League.

Koeman scored a massive 106 goals at Barcelona as a defender and one of the highest scoring defenders in the history of the Spanish league.

He started his coaching career with Barcelona, first working as an assistant coach before becoming coach of Barça B.

He has gone on to coach at Ajax, Valencia, Southampton, Everton, PSV and the Dutch National team afterwards, Daily Times gathered.

Koeman is in to help a fast sinking Barcelona ship, which got to its nadir in its humiliating 8-2 loss to Bayern Munich.

Meanwhile, Koeman’s future may not be assured just yet with a Presidential election coming up to elect a new leader at the club.

Victor Font, the leading candidate for the club Presidency, has reiterated that former club skipper, Xavi Hernandez is his favourite to take over as manager when he’s elected.
