Aspirant lambasts NASS members over poor representation

The Speaker, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Barrister Onofiok Luke has berated the present crop of lawmakers for poor representation of their constituencies on the floor of the National Assembly especially on matters that concern the people.

Luke who is standard bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Etinan Federal constituency in Akwa Ibom promised to make a difference when voted by the people in next year general election.

The speaker made his observation yesterday during the worship service organised by his campaign team tagged ’’Amazing Grace’’ at Qua Iboe Church Etinan to flag-off electioneering campaign for 2019 general election.

Luke further expressed dissatisfaction for poor quality of representation by members of the National Assembly and vowed to change the narrative when elected by his people.

He noted that ’’God had endowed him with everything including voice to speak for the people’’

He said it was disturbing that great men and women who are voted into the National Assembly lost their voices in the floor of the National Assembly.

Luke appealed to the leadership of the church to pray for him not to lose his voice when gets to the house of representative as observed among most house members.

In his words, “God has given me everything to speak for the people. I have the heart to give. I will give back to the people the dividend of democracy.

“I have the voice to partner with Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Udom Emmanuel to attract all the good things at the federal to our state.

In his remarks, the state chairman of people’s Democratic Party, Obong Paul Ekpo “it is with great joy that I urge you all to join our dear speaker and candidate of our great party for the Etinan Federal Constituency seat as he flags off his campaign.

“The primaries have come and gone and we must all now rise up to defend the interest of our party by supporting all the candidates of our great party the PDP.

“I have absolute confidence in your capacity and competence to represent our people.

I wish you a successful, issue based and campaigns.
