ASOPADEC boss urges ABSIEC to conduct free and fair election By Sunday Nwakanma Umuahia

As the Abia State local government chairmanship and councillorship election draws near, the election umpire in the state has been called upon to be unbiased in the conduct of the December, 21 2016 election and to release the results as and when due.
The chairman, Abia State Oil Producing Area Development Commission, (ASOPADEC) Sir Emeka Stanley, made this call in Aba, Tuesday while attending the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flag off campaign.

He asked ABSIEC to “do its best and to shun anything not normal” during the election “to bring out elected local government officials, come December 21, 2016.
Sir Stanley, who said the essence of the rally was to show that PDP was on ground, expressed his desire that the PDP will sweep the polls as the party “carries all along and emphasizes democracy.
He said the party is lucky to have Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu at the helm of affairs in the state and whose influence through his numerous achievements so far, especially in Aba will attract more electorates on the side of PDP during the council polls.
He described Gov. Ikpeazu as one who knows the essence of third-tier government, hence the people’s happiness and expectations of favourable local government institutions in the state.
The governor, he said is doing much with the little resources he receives pointing out that before the rains resume, the Governor would have done much more to show.
