Armed hoodlums sack DELSU hostel, stab victim

Rampaging armed hoodlums at the weekend attacked the popular hostel of the Delta State owned University (DELSU) Abraka, and carted away mobile phones, bags worth N89, 000 before stabbing one of the victims repeatedly in his hand, and spinal cord.
Although the victim, Iseoluvia Akimade, a native of Lagos State, our informed sources said is responding to treatment, but was said to have arrived Abraka on a visit to one of his friends, and a student of the university when the armed hoodlums stormed the hostel.

It was gathered that the men of the underworld were seen unsuspectingly loitering the area before the bubble burst, and were also hanging around a cool spot (name withheld) where they executed their evil act.
During nightfall, the robbers were said to have broken into the room of a graduate of geology, and ordered him to surrender his phones before moving into other rooms in the hostel.

It was learnt that Akimade allegedly resisted one of the robbers in his friend’s room, unknown to him that they were two robbers before one of them attacked him from behind as he refused to part with his phones.

One of the students, Pascal who spoke to our reporter that: “we were in our rooms that evening around 8pm preparing to go and celebrate with one of our own when the hoodlums came attacking us, took away our phones, bags worth N89, 000 including other things”.

The incident said to have been reported at the Abraka Police Division is currently generating fear of the unknown among other students in the hostel, but some officials of the university who did not want their names in the print, said investigation was ongoing in the incident.

At the Police Division, it was confirmed that the hoodlums attacked the hostel, and investigation was ongoing to bring the hoodlums to book.
