Armed Forces Remembrance Day: We must support our security agencies – Abbas

Speaker of the House of Representatives Rep Tanudeen Abbas has called for more support and cooperation for the Nigerian Armed Forces in their efforts to ensure safety of lives and property in the country.
Speaker Abbas said as Nigerians remember the fallen heroes of the Armed Forces, the Government will continue to strengthen the security outfit for the unity and prosperity of the country.
The Speaker’s message is in commemoration of this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day, celebrated, January 15 every year.
Speaker Abbas, who noted that there cannot be economic growth and stability without safety of lives and investments, also noted that, “security is a collective responsibility of all citizens and not Government agencies alone.”
While saying that Nigerians will be eternally grateful to members of the Armed Forces who paid the supreme price in the bid to protect their countrymen, stressed that their labour would not be in vain.

“As the security and welfare of the citizenry remain primary responsibility of Government, the 10th House will continue to prioritise security, and safety agencies.”
Speaker Abbas prayed for comfort for the families of the fallen heroes, while calling for better welfare packages for them, urging members of the Armed Forces, especially those at the war fronts, “to continue, doing their best in securing the country, adding that, “this should be inspired by patriotism and sacrifice.”
